Upon reaching hospital in Orlando, Jamie begged doctors to knock him out with anaesthetic, and six months later he woke up in Broomfield Hospital in Chelmsford, Essex, on one of the country's leading burns units, with his parents - who are separated - by his bedside.

In speaking about his life, the accident and his will to live, Jamie seeks to inspire confidence and energy in his audiences.Completing the 3,000 mile ride in seven days has been one of a number of challenges he has taken part in, raising thousands of pounds for Help for Heroes. It was there he undertook his first hike since his accident, which helped him regain his strength and fitness, and Jamie admitted he'll be forever indebted to Pete for forcibly heaving him out of his gloom, 'kicking him up the a***' and giving him the map to 'find his way back to happiness'.
