About this deal

The odd few I've tried have always been that skanky softwood which literally falls apart if you look at it the wrong way. To make the bricks, just soak and stir the paper in a bucket or trash can until mushy, scoop the pulp into the press, crush the handles down to squeeze out the excess water, leave the bricks to fully dry out, and then use as needed. The other option I've thought of would be to have a slip on / bolt on type affair to fit the log splitter to convert it temporarily to a briquette maker but again we're lucky to have a steady free supply of wood and so haven't yet bothered trying to work anything out. My parents are both into wood-turning and are members of a local club so I often get small hardwood offcuts but if I could make use of the shavings/dust too it would be nice as I can get it by the bag on their meeting nights. The single most important piece of advice I can offer anyone who wants to make their own paper briquettes from recycled newspaper, cardboard, woodchips, straw, and sawdust even adding charcoal (you should not use to much or any glossy colour printed paper).

To use, simply roll and wedge unwanted paper into the Logsaver, tearing to size if needed, using a varied mix of paper and card type - too much shiny stuff and glossy magazines at once is difficult to burn. We aim to continue the supply of presses bur there will be times when we must restrict the supply so as to keep up with the demand. Shredded paper takes up way more room than flat sheet and if you aren't careful you will end up with little shreds of paper all over the place if a mischievous pet or rambunctious child gets into the shredded paper pile. You can shred your paper in a shredder if you like, but the finer you have the paper in the first place the easier it will be, and the quicker it will dry out. You could slice some section off of a piece of 3" pipe to use as the rings if you can't be bothered to form rings out of bar.Seems a lot of effort to make a damp paper block, why not miss out the wood pulp to paper to imitation log stage by burning pallets, unwanted pallets are free, firms ring me up to take away their pallets. Jumpstart on your design in any custom sign measurement or format you need for your business or home. To use the Dry Logmaker, simply wrap newspaper around the outside of the tube, tucking the ends inside at the bottom. You can also transform a blank template from scratch so you can easily add your official brand logos, fonts, and colors. Would also like to keep a bunch for my parents in case they lose electricity (they have a fireplace which can run off their generator).

I was going to mess with the 'recipe' and maybe add a handful of shavings next time but for the brick itself it doesn't seem necessary. We burn the cardboard too, and all non plastic or non glossy/coated paper (clay/chalk content makes too much ash). Here is how we make compressed paper briquettes, quickly and easily, to use in a wood-burning stove. i can get hold of loads of oak shavings and sawdust, how about squishing that with some flour and water (to bind it together) to act like glue, you need to be making 20 bricks at a time and need to be about the size of a housebrick. The build up of gas in the fire and chimney eventually do ignite and the explosion travelling up the chimney can, at the very least, make your hairs stand on end.

I try to avoid it by making sure either the sawdust is put under the starting pile of kindling or to one side of an established flame and that the top of the fresh pile immediately starts to burn. They burn for between 10 minutes and 1 hour, using waste such as shredded junk mail and newspapers, tea bags, twigs, dry leaves or sawdust. After making the briquettes with the other fillers, there was just enough pulp left to make one more briquette.

I am pleased to report my efforts were successful and I discovered a quick and easy way to make my own paper bricks. This is packed into the log maker, using the handles to compress the pulp and gently squeeze out excess water.
