In “The Body,” four rambunctious young boys plunge through the façade of a small town and come face-to-face with life, death, and intimations of their own mortality. Adapted into the 1986 classic film Stand By Me, The Body is an iconic exploration of friendship, loneliness and adventure, an unforgettable coming-of-age story by master chronicler of small-town adolescence and universal experience, Stephen King. One of the most bizarre features of this novella was that it contains two short stories written by an older version of the protagonist and both were fairly unpleasant and seemingly unnecessary. When I was a kid I hung out with about 6 girls and we just knew we would be friends forever but by sophomore year I was only still friends with 3 and as an adult I'm only friends with 1. Her parents, Guy and Nellie Pillsbury, had become incapacitated with old age, and Ruth King was persuaded by her sisters to take over the physical care of them.

Everyone in the group is wary of crossing the bridge lest a train come along but Teddy insists they can make the crossing safely and not have to walk five miles upstream to the nearest bridge.

Set in fictional Castlerock, Maine, this Coming-of-Age story is told in the first-person POV of Gordie LaChance, who. Parts of his childhood were spent in Fort Wayne, Indiana, where his father's family was at the time, and in Stratford, Connecticut. The moments in which only a child will feel afraid, because only a child has the imagination for it.

Carrie, which takes place over ten years later but was written eight years earlier, features a reference to a Teddy Duchamp, but he is clearly not the same person as the Teddy of the novella.

There's a familiarity to his stories that speaks to the reader in some sort of nostalgicy, twisted way. Many of his titles are the basis for major motion pictures including IT , Stand By Me (adapted from The Body ) and The Shawshank Redemption , which is IMDb's top-rated movie of all time. The older kids decided not to report it because they didn't want to get in trouble for their own mischief. No need to be wary, for there is little gore, but enough language that some readers may want to look elsewhere.
