Giggling Squid Wimbledon is located on the High Street in the heart of Wimbledon Village surrounded by high-end boutiques and independent eateries. My mum bought this for me as part of Jólabókaflóð (Icelandic Book Flood for intensive reading time) that we have added to our holiday traditions. Who’s the author: On a mission to bring real Thai cuisine to the UK, Pranee and husband Andy founded The Giggling Squid from a small fisherman’s cottage by the Brighton seaside. Husband and wife co-founders Pranee and Andy started Giggling Squid out of a determination to bring the buzz of Thai mealtimes to the UK – energetic, informal, adventurous and welcoming. Our bold, botanical decor and mouthwatering menus are inspired by Thailand’s ingredients from the sea and land.

Our lovely Thai restaurant offers the full dining experience – fresh, authentic Thai food served with warmth and generosity by our friendly staff surrounded by the florals and vibrant colours of our unique aesthetic. The black takeaway packaging is made of recyclable plastic PP5, which is collectable by many local authorities and bigger community recycling points such as supermarkets. There’s real love and effort that goes into cooking this dish properly, but the flavour of the sauce – sweet and rich – works beautifully with the crispy-skinned duck, making it a long-time favourite in our restaurants. Thai tapas starters star signature dishes G olden Money Bags, Sweet Jicama Salad, Candy Pork with Pineapple and Grilled Squid with Garlic.Our Beaconsfield restaurant is spacious, spreading across two floors but with plenty of quieter, intimate spaces which make it perfect for a dinner with friends or even a lunchtime business meeting over a meal.

Those which contain gluten will be indicated with a G in the menu but it’s really important that you check our allergen guide to make sure your chosen dish doesn’t contain traces. With its showpiece glass frontage and stunning, botanical interior inspired by Thailand’s abundance of exotic ingredients from sea and land, our Chelmsford restaurant offers the ultimate dining experience. Our stunning walled garden offers a spacious, tranquil area perfect for outdoor dining with plenty of seating including our fairytale birdcages.I really did enjoy also reading the story of the founder and why some of the dishes have become a true British Thai fusion. During lockdown we were delighted to offer a discount for NHS staff when dining in at Giggling Squid restaurants. We have an allergens guide identifying all the allergens in our dishes which you can access via a QR code or you can ask our staff for a printed copy.

Our chefs love wok’ing their magic to create new dishes and we like to change our menu at least once a year as well as offering seasonal, limited edition specials. Our teams are on hand to help you with your food choices if there are certain ingredients you need to avoid. Our Thai restaurant is within walking distance of its lovely gardens, the abbey ruins, the cathedral and attractions like Abbeygate Cinema, Cineworld and Theatre Royal. Yes, we love welcoming little Squidlets and have a special menu with games and colouring to entertain them.Recipes are introduced by Pranee who opened the first Giggling Squid with her husband Andy in their small fishmen's cottage in Brighton 20 year ago. Every year we bring out a new festive menu with a Thai twist for anyone who fancies an alternative to tired turkey and soggy sprouts! Applying a service charge to the bill allows us to operate a transparent and fair system as it gets shared across the entire team including kitchen porters, runners, chefs and servers – rewarding everyone who has been involved in the guest’s experience. As part of the policy we pledge to comply with all relevant regulatory requirements, continually improve and reduce our environmental impact, incorporate environmental factors into business decisions and increase employee awareness and training. We’re 5 minutes’ walk from the Theatre Royal in Bury St Edmunds so if you’re catching a show, why not book an early table and treat yourself to a Thai curry or noodles before you go on to enjoy the performance?

We use LED lights in all our new restaurants and will be upgrading older sites where possible as part of our refurb programme. Our intensive training programme for all restaurant staff covers sustainability and the initiatives we have in place. Perfect for sofa days and cosy kitchen get-togethers, our Thai takeaway in Wimbledon is open every day from 12pm-10.One of our larger restaurants, our Beaconsfield Giggling Squid offers a spacious but welcoming interior inspired by the fresh, exotic Thai ingredients from land and sea that feature in our authentic, flavourful dishes. Enjoy the ultimate dining experience in our flagship restaurant with its beautiful domed ceiling, pillared rooms and our unique bold, floral decor. Our kitchen appliances are all high-grade energy rating A+ and above and our teams are trained to reduce water wastage, for example by ensuring taps are not left on unnecessarily. Our lovely Thai restaurant in Oxford combines wow-factor decor – bold colours and vibrant botanicals – with a warm atmosphere and friendly service. Plus exciting chapters inspired by the latest exciting addition to the restaurant menu - breakfasts and light meals and a special drinks section with spicy teas and zingy cocktails and mocktails.
