I suppose the practice of not including singles at the time was well-intentioned – The Beatles stated on a couple of occasions they didn’t like making fans pay for the same song twice – but it kept some of their best songs off their albums. New Stereo Mix of The Beatles’ Revolver in 180g 4LP/1EP Vinyl Box Set Reveals Many New Sonic Details, Plus 2LPs of Unreleased Outtakes to Sweeten the Pot. Just want to add a couple of comments to the mix, not really related to the album Revolver to the the broader contribution of the Beatles. Even as the contrasting personalities of John, Paul, George and Ringo came to the fore, they still delighted in each other’s company. The previous year, his deepening interest in Indian music and learning how to play sitar had brought him together with Ravi Shankar, who became his close friend and occasional musical collaborator. You’re right, that guitar solo in “Got to Get You Into My Life” is marvelous, and it does get overshadowed a bit in the new mix.

Ringo’s drumming hits a lot harder, with random bits of noise flying about and cosmic seagulls sailing through the air from the right channel to the left and back again. According to Klaus Voormann, the German artist who designed “Revolver’s” Grammy-winning record cover art, some members of the Beatles’ inner circle anxiously anticipated this kind of reaction. The audio is brought forth in stunning clarity with the help of cutting edge de-mixing technology developed by the award-winning sound team led by Emile de la Rey at Peter Jackson's WingNut Films Productions Ltd. The outer box printed artwork isn't fixed to the card box very well, leaving very obvious, large and numerous visible air bubbles under the surface.

Rubber Soul was an incredible album in its own right – but Revolver was where The Beatles made the quantum leap from the world’s biggest rock stars to legends. One of the big benefits of this new remix may also be a bit of a nit to pick for some of you especially hardcore Beatles fanatics. The studio itself became an instrument as George Martin and his engineers, Ken Townsend and 20-year-old newcomer Geoff Emerick, innovated with double-tracking, microphone placement and sound effects. Revolver was the sound of the Beatles fully embracing the recording studio as a sonic canvas, free to pursue musical ideas and possibilities that would reshape rock forever. Iteration and fearless experimentation were always Beatles hallmarks, but Revolver found the band accelerating headfirst into innovation. Revolver's Special Edition also features Take 11, with falsetto backing vocals by John and Paul with different words from the released version.
