About this deal

The popularity of paddle boarding continues to rise - and it's easy to see why if you've ever tried it How we chose the best iSUPs Ancient though they may be, stand-up paddle boards have had a very contemporary boom, and while the weather this summer hasn't been what we have all dreamed of, there are still paddle boarders galore on the waterways of London, in the sea in Brighton and on the Lakes of Cumbria. If you, too, are invested in the practice of surfing, lounging, meditating, doing yoga or taking out your dog onto the water, buying your own SUP might be your ideal summer dopamine hit. Versatility and advanced performance make this product stand out from the competition. It comes with an ultimate bundle of accessories and premium features that allow it to be converted into a kayak, among other things. Features To inflate the board you twist one end of a plastic tube onto the valve and the other screws into the pump – this is a single-cylinder, single-action pump (meaning it only pushes air into the board on the downstroke) and so takes about 5-10 minutes to see the desired 15psi on the gauge. This is one area you might want to upgrade if you find yourself paddling every weekend. It soon gets a bit tiresome inflating it manually. If you are looking for added stability in a sturdy inflatable paddle board, we recommend the Tigerxbang SUP Kit. It has an extra-long and wide design that helps riders of all skill levels feel secure, even on rougher waters. Features

This large 12ft model has buoyancy on its side, generally making it easier to live with, while the max carry capacity of 175kg means it can take two people, or one person and a day’s worth of picnic and kit. I weigh somewhere between 90-100kg depending on what point of my yo-yo diet I'm at. The original blue Portofino claimed a maximum weight of 130kg, while the red one curiously drops to 120kg. Either is fine for me, although anecdotally the red one does look like it sits lower in the water. The front is quite curved so it’s good for being static as well as navigating the water, as you feel very stable on it,” says Price. “The robust fins aren’t very long so they won’t snag so readily in shallow water either. They can get a little bent but easily straightened with warm water or a hair dryer.” Porretta also pointed out that the tubular handles on the board make it easier to carry in and out of the water. “While people generally recommend a 10.6” board for beginners, the extra length on this one helps if you want to add kids and dogs and a picnic,” she says. “It felt stable when Bethany was sitting up front and the bungee straps felt secure so I didn’t have to worry about my dry bag falling in the water.” They also take time to inflate before you can head out on the water. You'll want to buy an electric pump for ease ( try this one).

The Bluefin SUP Inflatable Paddle Board has an extra-long 15-foot length that is great for tandem use. It is constructed with a Pro Weave drop stitch and a 1000 Denier surface laminate to create a tough structure. It can withstand up to 28 PSI, leading to a super rigid and stable surface. The top also has a strap on the front for your belongings. Pros: Speedy design; includes a decent paddle in the price; respected brand with a good resale value Generously proportioned, super stable and available at a sensible price, the Two Bare Feet Entradia 10’ 10” is one of the best inflatable SUP boards for beginners and bigger paddlers, but it’s more than just that. It’s tons of fun even for more experienced paddlers, especially if conditions are lumpy or if you have small family members that want to get on board. The kit is really nicely put together too. Stand-up paddle boarding has taken off in the UK, and that’s helped by inflatable designs that make it easier to hit the water for a serene paddle without having to find a way to transport, store and carry a massive 10ft board. Since reviewing the original Portofino stand up paddleboard in 2021, Trail Outdoor Leisure has redesigned it and added a new colour option. Read on for our updated impressions of this excellent beginner's board. Then there's the length of the board: a longer board is great for fast paddling and long-distance touring, while a short board (around eight feet long) are ideal for surfing or children. A medium 10ft to 12ft board is a great all-rounder, and for SUP yoga. Another large model built for accommodating pets or kids alongside your own body weight, the Thurso Max is as multi-purpose as its name suggests. While you won’t be winning any races on this 11’6” inflatable, you’ll be safe in the knowledge that — as with many other bigger boards — you’ll be supported through yoga sessions, fishing trips or even simple water-based pootling. Aqua Marina products cleverly blend good quality components with eye-catching design, meaning these affordable options compete with far more expensive rivals when it comes to style on the water.

We had a lot of fun trying out this board on lakes, rivers and the sea. The board comes in a decent bag that is easy to carry. Inside it has everything needed to get onto the water- pump, leash and three-piece paddle. As a low-cost board it offers good value for getting onto the water. It's great for children to get a taste of paddle boarding and was light enough for our nine-year-old and 13-year-old to carry the board to the water and offered enough stability for them to paddle as well as having lots of fun jumping on and off the board and gaining lots of confidence. With a good-sized centre fin that is easy to fit onto the board, it worked well when playing in the sea as well as the flat water. The Portofino includes a coil leash with an adjustable neoprene ankle strap to prevent the SUP drifting away if you fall into the water. The cord stretches to 2-metres for greater freedom of movement. Its coiled design helps to stop it dragging in the water and slowing you down. Although in reality getting the right size is a bit less fiddly with an inflatable SUP because they’re already pretty buoyant, and because you’re likely to be paddling at a steady pace on flat water rather than carving down the face of a wave. But it should still be a consideration, and the best beginner boards will favour stability over outright manoeuvrability and pace. Key specs – Total weight: 17kg; Length: 265cm; Width: 75cm; Height: 10cm; Air pressure: 18psi; Volume: 161L; How much can it carry: 95kg; Accessories: Pump, bag, leash and fins. The Sierra Designs 800 20 is all designed to make nights in the great outdoors more comfortable – no zips required! Fun on the water: Each paddleboard was rated by each tester for stability, manoeuvrability, and how easy the board was to get up to speed and maintain it. The best boards are excellent fun, easy to get your balance on and will cruise through the water with minimal effort. The worst are more energy sapping to navigate, aren't as stable and fundamentally just aren't as much fun.
