About this deal

With his wife, bestselling novelist Faye Kellerman, he co-authored Double Homicide and Capital Crimes.

The female officer stationed behind Gornick said, “Try to relax,” with even less enthusiasm than a moment ago. I read my first 'Alex Delaware' book in 1995, always anxious for the next one after I caught up with the earlier books. I admit up front that I have read all 38 books in the Alex Delaware series, and I have enjoyed each and every one of them. With his son, bestselling novelist Jesse Kellerman, he co-authored Crime Scene , The Golem of Hollywood, and The Golem of Paris.

As always, the expansive description of characters and settings far surpasses the action, but then that's part of the appeal of the books, at least to me. While the mystery structure might be time-tested, the locations and suspects are a departure for Kellerman.

Milo Sturgis asks psychologist Alex Delaware to work with him for the psychological insights he can bring to this oddball murder. Unless his publisher sees fit to get a decent editor for his next novel, this will probably be the last Jonathan Kellerman novel I read. He served internships in clinical psychology and pediatric psychology at Childrens Hospital of Los Angeles and was a post-doctoral HEW Fellow in Psychology and Human Development at CHLA.He would give them plenty of food and drink, even pay them accordingly, to pose for him as people they wish they could be, if they were famous. As usual, this is packed with intrigue and funny one-liners from Milo which moves the story right along. When the villain is revealed I was disappointed and felt it was remote and unrealistic, but I enjoy these books as respite from anything too deep and/or serious…it’s just good entertainment. The 1970s and 80s treated us to high-concept episodic crime capers in sun-kissed locations, all car chases and shout-outs, every mystery solved with a seemingly endless supply of ammunition and helicopters.

His face was chalky in the sunlight, UV rays advertising pits and lumps that harked back to teenage acne. I found an underlying theme in this book where I suspect Kellerman was attempting to address the problem of homelessness.

It's hard to believe this is the 38th book in this series, which has been a favorite of mine from the beginning (as far as I know, I've read - and loved - every single one). He is also the author of two children's books and numerous nonfiction works, including Savage Spawn: Reflections on Violent Children and With Strings Attached: The Art and Beauty of Vintage Guitars.

A woman backs away from him, “as if there was only so much space to go around and he’d just taken a second helping. Milo and his team of detectives investigate these possibilities, and Alex joins Milo when the cop interviews people of interest. Melissande Gornick rocked back and forth in a chair and gripped the sides of her face with black-nailed hands. Additional murders complicate the picture, and the investigation becomes more difficult before a break finally occurs. He is the author of two children’s books and numerous nonfiction works, including Savage Spawn: Reflections on Violent Children and With Strings Attached: The Art and Beauty of Vintage Guitars .

Many years ago, I used to be thoroughly enamoured of this series—in fact, I owned all the books—so I don't know if it's just me and my reading tastes that have changed. There are some, however, who view the whole thing as nothing more than crass exploitation, citing token payments and the victim’s avoidance of any long-term relationships with his subjects. The familiar characters are still around: Milo, the brilliant police detective; Robin, the luthier and longtime girlfriend; Blanche, the adorable French bulldog; the koi in the pond; the modern home/office in Beverly Glen; and that Cadillac Seville. Since being photographed three years ago, she’d also added steel piercings to her left eyebrow, her left cheek, her right nostril, and the soft spot between lower lip and chin. With his son, bestselling novelist Jesse Kellerman, he co-authored Crime Scene, The Golem of Hollywood, and The Golem of Paris.
