About this deal

La historia es cliché como tal, pero la autora le da un giro de 45º (bueno un pequeño rodeo) y la verdad es que le quedó bastante decente.

I'm kind of glad I didn't discover this book until now, it means I don't have to wait too long until book two comes out! I’m definitely interested enough to continue this series and see where it goes, and I hope to see further development of the story and it’s characters. We’re thrilled to announce, in collaboration with Sylvia Mercedes and Illumicrate, exclusive editions of the Bride of the Shadow King trilogy! Sí, sigue siendo igual de interesante pero bueno ya dejaré dicha opinión para su correspondiente reseña.I am a big fan of Fantasy Romance so when I read the synopsis of Bride of the Shadow King, I knew it was exactly my kind of story. The secondary characters had depth which added to the scenes, especially the scenes of comedic relief, it didn't feel out of place or forced. Excellent writing, full believable characterisations, and a world that you can feel beneath your feet and smell the air. Set in an epic fantasy-style world rich in detail, we follow two characters, Faraine the eldest daughter of King Larongar, whose lands are under constant attack from the neighbouring Fae.

For a first book in a series with book two being the only other released novel of this series, the pacing was much slower than I was expecting. The romance starts quite early in the book, and from that point, it is full of pinning until the end. Bride of the Shadow King isn't the worst of them but with a cover like that, a plot like that, and then opportunities in the text that present themselves for the hero and heroine to do a lot more together. For fans of The Bridge Kingdom and A Deal with the Elf King, this sweeping tale of love and betrayal is equal blends sweet and spice. I do have a couple of problems though, mainly with how the book transitions between the two main characters' point of view. The world building was great and I enjoyed how the author created different customs for the humans and the Trolde. Vor, the half-human, half-trolde King of Mythanar and Lord Protector of the Under Realm, needs the help and magic of Larongar's three Mages to save his people, whilst Larongar needs allies to fight Prince Ruvaen and the despised and deadly fae Licornyn Riders.
