After reading this book, I have decided to read all of Hoyt’s books. She does have a gift of enticing and charming her readers while making them wanting and yearning more.

Some of the plot is not very believable, a bit too contrived, but the story tugged on my emotions, and that's always a sign of a well-written story. Edward is a great "large, brooding, man's man" trope of a character, rather blunt and hard but with a soft heart and tender feelings. The best combo for his stereotype. I've always been fascinated by the historical romance novels and it's a bit rare to see nicely-constructed romance novels with equal romance and smut in this era.Point Of View (POV): This alternated between focusing on Anna and Edward in 3rd person narrative (with a few sections focusing on a side character). Good sense tells me I should get down and cleaned up before my stepmother seeks me out, but as the sun continues to rise, I find myself unable to look away. I remain in place, watching the golds grow brighter. The sun kisses more and more of Evanston. Any moment, it will illuminate even the Gray Quarter. I don’t notice when the wisps get bored and float away, but soon I’m alone again, frozen in place, letting the breeze rustle my coat and dance through my hair while I listen to the shift in music. Davis, the evil old reprobate. Even though he is terminally incompetent he was so devilishly diverting, too! God, this man gave Edward lip and made me laugh out loud! THE RAVEN PRINCE isn't a bad book. Most of the members in our buddy read really liked the book, and I did, too. But it isn't a prime example of Hoyt's works by any means and suffers from some major problems which I'm going to discuss.
