About this deal

The initial notes are very heavy and spicy which is a plus point but the base notes are very ordinary as you will get citrus mixed with honey and basil. I like to have a change fromt eh usuals every now and then, so after Dior Sauvage, Paco Raban Million I thought I'd try Hugo Boss. Eau de Toilette (EDT): EDT’s are not as highly concentrated in oils and elixirs as an EDP or Perfume would be and contain one to three per cent of fragrance oils. I wear this as a cold-weather daily office type scent, not going to blow anyone away but also not offensive. Whether you want to treat yourself or give a gift to a special person, Boss Number One EDT will be a perfect choice.

Old masculine masterpiece that would be lauded from here to the Himalayas had it been released as a private blend under the Tom Ford brand and sold for a fortune. Now it's does kind of smells like a bad bathroom that's smell like piss but to me it's more like a fabric softener sheet. This fragrance is designed to enhance your personal style and add a touch of luxury to your everyday life. I think that's why it is still a good value scent and without the reformulation it would have most likely been discontinued.

The base is a richly masculine and evocative blend of Tobacco, Oakmoss, Patchouli, Sandalwood, Musk, Amber, Cinnamon and Cedar. I find I detect those aspects - particularly the honey and the jasmine coming to the fore very early on.

The reason why I am writing this review is because after wearing Madonna's Truth or Dare Naked, I had to share it on here that T or D Naked smells just like the original Hugo Boss did on me. I see people saying that this is indistinguishable from Givenchy Gentleman, that they are exactly alike. This is not a fragrance that everyone will like, in fact I think it could be one of those scents you either love or hate. But I only put on two and I think I could put on another and it would be completely fine to wear out in public. Sad because they just don't make perfumes with depth and complexity like this anymore and marveled that they reached what could have been the pinnacle of perfumery in the 80s!

Spray it on and I get a bump of oakmoss and musk, then tobacco and creamy sandalwood, then lavender and rose. The development is gorgeous, not for the faint hearted, it has that urinal vibe going on for a bit, a bitterness that tends to put some folks off this juice.

I have an almost full bottle in my collection of fragrances that my then GF bought me back in the early 90's. This fragrance is for the man who never settles for less than the best, opening with fresh, invigorating nutmeg and cardamom, fused with a heart of patchouli and sandalwood. But for me his jewel of the crown is still Boss Number One, and this is the perfume that put Hugo Boss on the perfume map. I think that scents are very closely associated with memories and good old days when we were young, free and single - out clubbing with mates every weekend etc.
