About this deal

Topov wants to know why he can't play with the typewriter, mess about with Tortoise's lift and have fun with his toy spider. Nobody tells him. They just say "Don't" Inigo Pipkin was first shown on New Year's Day 1973. When the show started, the main character was an elderly puppet maker called Inigo Pipkin (hence the original title), played by George Woodbridge. The puppets were his creations, and over the course of the first series, viewers saw Inigo bring to life Hartley Hare and the Tortoise (a.k.a. George) played by Nigel Plaskitt; and Topov the monkey, Pig and Octavia the ostrich, all played by Heather Tobias.

As the weather changes, one gets too hot or too cold. But a hare can’t wear thinner fur, and a Tortoise can’t come out of his shell, so they have to think of other ways of keeping cool… and the infamous “ODD MAN OUT” episode, where a series of straightforward parlour games were invariably ruined by Hartley’s Freudian obsession with a fish-slice.

Christmas Creamguide 2022: Week Two

Pig, perhaps rather foolishly, has bought a whole lot of junk which Tom says he cannot get rid of...............

The bottom has fallen out of Tortoises world because a flower pot has fallen on his drum and broken it. Can his friends make him happy again? Pig decides to be a baddy and brings everything to a halt with his hold ups. Johnny decides that if everyone wants to play at cowboys they should do it at playtime, which they do, but Topov doesn't quite get the hang of what's supposed to be done...... The name “Pipkin” does not have a first name, as it is the name of the TV programme and not an individual character within the show. What is the monkey called in Pipkins? The show’s cast of puppets was diverse and memorable. Hartley Hare, the somewhat threadbare puppet, acted as the leader and thinker of the group, often engaging in witty banter and humour. With his unforgettable personality, Hartley became a fan favourite. If you want a balloon tree, do you plant a seed or buy it in a pot? Or do you make it from bits and pieces and lots of puff?

Why do children keep throwing paper into the Pipkins yard? Perhaps it’s because they are bored. Anyway, that’s what Charlie thinks, so he get’s Pipkins to help him build something very exciting for all the children….. Hartley knows that birds fly in the sky. He also knows that they sit in the trees and run about in the grass. But when he sets out to do some birdwatching they all vanish.... What does Mooney keep in his bundle? A question which has been asked for many years. Today, we get a little near the answer.... The Pipkin’s van breaks down, stranding Johnny miles from anywhere. Bertha is worried in case he has had an accident and Mrs P tries to comfort her-with stories of all the terrible things that have happened to some of her family…. It's Hartley's birthday- and there are lots of surprises. He doesn't know he's going to have a party ,a present, and a surprise telephone call!Mr Pipkin and Johnny have finished making a monkey puppet, but as Hartley Hare points out, it doesn’t move…… Today's programme marks a farewell to Johnny. He, Topov and Pig see a playground where all the children are unhappy because the equipment in it is broken. Johnny leaves Pipkins to help the children, and all his old friends help him move to a new house near the playground Sometimes, when you can't do things on your own, you need somebody to help you. But don't worry, because it doesn't matter. I mean, I don't mind Pig helping me.
