About this deal

I, like many others, started airbrushing to save money on model primers and to quickly apply the base coats, at most some basic Zenithal Highlighting. Unlike other Iwata airbrushes the Eclipse CS has a special ‘ floating nozzle‘ which is easier and less delicate to take apart to change.

I am guessing that the nozzle got damaged as a consequence of this needle not moving freely, and perhaps also because I accidentally hit the kitchen sink with the needle tip, fairly violently. I have only limited experience with Model Air paints, but my impression (and I've seen many comments that agree) is that it's pretty thick to spray without thinning, using the same airbrush. Obviously thinning depends on several factors including the specific color you’re spraying, but it’s a good starting point. Not to mention that this rough texture absorbs some of the paint particles, so sometimes when I’m spraying a varnish, it gets the tint of the last paint I sprayed before. Ever since I got my Iwata Eclipse HP-CS, I has felt weird trying to push the needle into place after cleaning it.The Patriot trigger action is different, partially because of the difference in nozzle size and needle shape. For another product review, I sprayed them all again (Including the stripped model) with Skeleton Bone Spray Primer from a rattle-can. This trigger discipline ensures the last of the paint will be blown off the needle when releasing the trigger, which mitigates tip dry and clogging. The HP-C range has this larger 1/3 oz cup, the HP-B a 1/16 oz cup and the HP-A just a small 1/32 oz recess for tiny amounts. If the trigger gets sticky, Iwata recommends putting a few drops of SuperLube in the trigger opening in the body.

Honestly though, entering into the Iwata world, I actually found this brand-specific naming convention more confusing.I've snagged my needle many times and it isn't bent yet, in spite of the fact it's only 404 stainless. When the acrylic paint is the right consistency this air brush is very good, with very responsive air and paint controls. Anest Iwata-Medea warrants all Iwata and Neo for Iwata airbrushes against all manufacturing defects of materials and manufacture or workmanship.

As in the HP-CR, the valve body, the part on the left, has some sort of lube on it, and has to be pushed out from above. But should you attempt the detail painting that requires lower pressure like camo spots, smoke stains, etc. You can see the contrast under the arms and such but the best way to show this off is with the 360° image below. Advise on this forum and others states that for most applications, the Model Air paints can be used in the airbrush without thinning. They mention that it's a consistently high quality performer, works great, and is excellent value for money.
