About this deal

The main characters are Company Master Balthasar, Interrogator-Chaplain Seraphicus, Librarian Turmiel, Ravenwing Sergeant Arion, Mortis Metalikus and it's brother Krannon the Crimson Slaughter leader. Personally, I think this is one of the best boxed set Games Workshop have produced in quite a while. Sure not all of the miniatures are perfect, but they are for the most part incredibly well sculpted pieces that anyone would be proud to have in their army. So whether your coming to 40k for the first time or are an old time veteran of the game this set looks as if it could definitely set you up for 6th edition. Four years later, the Dark Angels’ hunt for the Fallen took centre stage as they faced off with the Chaos Space Marines renegades known as the Crimson Slaughter in Dark Vengeance.

Miniatures-wise Dark Vengeance contains two opposing armies, Chaos and Dark Angels. If you managed to get your hands on the Box Set with the limited edition Chaplain model, he also had a dope datasheet that gave him bonuses to fighting Chaos. The How to Play guide is for beginners, but it is actually really useful for people going from 5th edition to 6th edition. I would recommend reading it if you haven’t read the rules yet. It’s laid out in a really nice way. The Dark Angels are often thought of as three armies in one, as they have a core of regular Space Marines, surrounded by fast-moving Ravenwing units, and ultra-resilient Terminator Deathwing units. Dark Vengeance gets an extra-special mention, as when an update to the rules was released in July 2014, it remained in place as the go-to Warhammer 40,000 boxed set – and came supplied with an updated rulebook! June 2017 – Dark Imperium On top of this the box also contains the usual selection of reference sheets, templates, mini rulebook and even assembly guides to help you get playing Warhammer 40,000 as soon as possible.

He’s armed with the Sword of Secrets, his armour is known as The Protector, and he’s followed everywhere by one of Caliban’s mysterious creatures, known as a Watcher in the Dark, who carries his venerable helm, the Lion Helm. Well bringing this lot up to 1000 points would be a start so that means 230 points to spend. Remember, this has to be a legal 40K force as defined by the Force Org chart in the main Rule Book. And here's the shopping list, some would be swaps for existing weapons or models rather than out-and-out additions: Adepta Sororitas • Astra Militarum • Chaos Daemons • Chaos Space Marines • Dark Angels • Eldar • Imperial Knights • Inquisition • Legion of the Damned • Militarum Tempestus • Space Marines • Tau Empire • Tyranids Spawned from the gene-Seed of theprimarch Lion El’Jonson, they inherited many of his traits. These include a passion for victory, an overwhelming desire for martial perfection, and – unfortunately for their story – a certain arrogance and tendency to keep secrets.

The Dark Angels were the first Legion Astartes and, as they would have it, the template on which the other legions were built. They certainly demonstrated a broad spectrum of tactical doctrines, a theory of war known as the Hexagrammaton. The Lion’s sons had to fight without him at first, as their gene-sire was scattered across the galaxy by the machinations of Chaos. He landed on the planet Caliban, deep in the monster-blighted woods. There he grew into his full form with unnatural speed, until he was discovered by the noble knight Luther. Now, ten thousand years later, the Dark Angels hunt their traitorous brethren – The Fallen – across the galaxy, desperate to wipe clean their name in their own eyes and that of the Emperor. Then of course there are the guys everyone has been waiting for. They are here. And they are ready to cause some mayhem. It's the Cultists!

Belial is the Grand Master of the Deathwing, bone-coloured Terminators who stalk the battlefield as stalwart masters of destruction. Clad in ancient Terminator armour, Belial is one of the most fearsome warriors the Dark Angels have ever seen, with a loyalty unmatched among even his sturdy brethren. More than almost any other Space Marines Chapter in Warhammer 40K (except perhaps the Ultramarines), there are a multitude of Dark Angels characterswith models on the tabletop. Let’s meet the Dark Angels gang, and get to know some of the friendly faces you might encounter if you start collecting a Dark Angels army. Bladeguard, Primaris, or Terminator Ancient only: while the bearer is leading a unit, the unit has Feel No Pain 6+That's 20 models on the table in total. And now you can see the reason to add the meltabombs and psychic upgrades as it takes the list to a more 'rounded' points value of 770. A few points to note Armour of Contempt will allow most units to hold their own against non concentrated fire, and will help your biggest units survive all but the biggest guns. Now I tidied up the robe with Dheneb Stone, leaving Stormvermin Fur in the recesses. Next I highlighted with Pallid Wych Flesh, followed by a very sharp highlight of Ceramite White [Skull White or whatever white you’ve got].
